Every kitchen, or at least most, have a number of useless electrical appliances. They were useful once, a long time ago when you just bought them (or were given as a present). But now, apart from the kettle and possibly the toaster – what else do you use?
When we moved in together (the 5 of us), we were pretty excited with the variety of stuff we now had in our extra large kitchen. Here is a list off the top of my head:
- Kettle
- Juice maker
- Popcorn maker
- Toaster
- Blender
- Sandwich press (jaffle maker)
- 3 in 1 food steamer
- Mixer
- few other bits and pieces that I can’t remember, not counting the typical things like microwave of course
Kettle gets used the most. It gets used so much, that our expensive kettle has recently been replaced by another one, a cheaper version that only looks fancy. Kettles cost nothing these days. The toaster gets used rarely, mainly when we run out of bread and start pulling out the reserves from the freezer. Popcorn maker gets everyone excited, I remember it getting used twice in the past 7 months, which isn’t too bad I guess. The juice maker was used a few times, the biggest issue with that is cleaning it, as with the blender. The steamer was never even turned on.
Sometimes, you find other ways to use the old appliances, ways that seem to make more sense to you. Monya has the right idea in mind.
